Pet Spay and Neuter

Spaying Your Pets to Promote A Healthy Life is Still Recommended
  • Medium, Large and Giant Breed Dogs are spayed after 1 year of age
  • Smaller breeds may be spayed prior to their first heat, but we recommend discussing further during puppy visits

Timing for Neutering, Just as Spaying, Has Come Under Revie By the Veterinary Profession

  • Larger the breed, the more beneficial it is to delay neutering until 10 months for small breeds
  • Large and Giant Breeds may wait up to 18 months to be neutered
  • Main benefit for delaying neutering is the impact on reducing certain orthopedic dysfunctions or injuries
