Veterinarian
Dr. Kimberly Hamer received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from University of Georgia in 1996. She was inspired to become a veterinarian by both her lifelong connections to dogs, cats and horses, and her childhood next-door neighbor who was a veterinarian in Florence, SC. Dr. Hamer has had feline and canine companions her entire life and can’t imagine life without them.
After working at the DeKalb Animal Hospital in Tucker, Georgia, from 1996-2005, Dr. Hamer began a new phase of her career as a relief veterinarian at Dunwoody Animal Medical Center in 2005 and has since transitioned to a regular part-time veterinarian.
Dr. Hamer is happily married and has one son. She also has one dog, Maverick, and one cat, Firestar. She enjoys birdwatching, knitting, quilting and cooking. Her favorite part of working in veterinary medicine is the variety of issues she sees every day and treating the unexpected.
